This cover is simply gorgeous. I am really excited.
This cover is simply gorgeous. I am really excited.
Do you ever feel like reading, and you might as well drown in your TBR but you just…… can’t?
Bad news? Yup, you are very ill.
Good news? I have the cure.
I mean, I’ve suffered multiple reading slumps. They are very very annoying.
Make a list of what you want to read.
Sometimes it helps seeing your goals on a piece of paper or a sticky note right in front of you.
Tip #2 (this is very risky, because it can aggravate your illness)
Trust your favourite book. Reread.
It can sometimes raise the bar too high and push you deeper into a reading slump.
But rereading a favourite and playing it safe, it can help. Best case scenario, you’ll be finishing tons of books in no time. Worst case scenario, you will read that book for the rest of your life, nothing else.
If you don’t like playing it safe, try something new.
Short stories (Ha, creepypasta because sleep is for the weak), novellas, poetry. Read something easy and short.
Go to the library
Seriously, don’t say you got no money for buying books. Go to that library and pick one book.
Or just look around at people reading, maybe they will inspire you.
Read when you eat, read when you have some free time. A page, a chapter, five. Just keep reading. Eventually, you will remember how it feels to finish one book in one day.
In the end, you read because you love books. Never NEVER feel like you are forced to read.
Title: A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOTAR 3)
Author: Sarah J Maas
Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.
As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords-and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
My feelings are raw now and I can’t stop crying because I’ve just finished this book ….everyone knows how much these books mean to myself. I am probably the most emotionally invested. I wanna say that I was surprised by my ability of anticipating most of it. I always thought me and Sarah think alike. 2 plot twists have destroyed me. I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible.
Firstly, the beginning was unecessary but necessary, do you get me? It was that stupid thing humans do, for the pleasure of doing it. The character development (Feyre reminds me of Juliette sometimes) is just brilliant. Feyre is a proud baby bat now. Still broken, sometimes afraid, but she can handle herself. The journey, the way she protects Lucien, how she just doesn’t give up made me cry. 1/5
Secondly, Rhysand. Rhysand is terrified, panicked, horrified. He could get his mate outta that hell with 2 snaps of his fingers. But he doesn’t, for he knows that she’s the ruler of that hell. He knows he could handle it and because she is his equal, he trusts her. I cried, I cried, I cried. Rhysand is that kind of character who wants everyone to value themselves, but he doesn’t. He would sacrifice himself for what he loves, still calling himself ‘unworthy’. The power dynamic in their relationship is what I am hoping for. His speech made me cry. 2/5
Thirdly, Mor, Azriel, Amren, Cassian – I am so glad they are alright. I missed everything. I missed their banter . I will miss them. I was very pleased that we get to see more of the oh-so-mysterious Azriel. Morrigan oh Morrigan. She really annoyed me at times (SAILING TOWARDS MY NESSIAN SHIP ), but everything she’s endured in order to keep that ‘something’ (keeping the spoilers from you) part of, only, herself was admirable. She’s easy to love. Cassian damn him I am ready to read the next novels (hopefully, with his and Nesta’s story). I am sorry that I doubted the tiny monster Amren. 3/5
TAMLIN. I’ve known this would happen. Quite the precarious balance. I told myself that if anyone essential dies while Tamlin gets his redemption, I will rage. Meh. Everything’s flowery at the Spring Court. ‘Be happy’ -Cried here too so, there we go. 4/5 (THAT DOESN’T MEAN I LIKE TAMLIN. He’s that character who doesn’t deserve my hate, but I still childishly despise him. )
The whole book. I can’t believe this is the end. *I stopped crying a few minutes ago. I can feel the tears coming back.* I’ve finished this so fast because I couldn’t stop from reading, but there is regret. Regret that it’s the end. These books taught me so many things. Everyon eventually came together to save their world. I know what I am looking for. Always search for a Rhysand, because listen to me, they exist. But not because you can’t live without one. BECAUSE LISTEN AGAIN, YOU CAN LIVE FINE WITHOUT A RHYSAND (cough Feyre the huntress cough). But if you ever fall in love, make sure you get treated as a queen, as an equal, and don’t settle for less. 5/5
If you ever feel you don’t belong somewhere, run. If you don’t find a place for you, maybe there is none.Create one. Search for it. Never give up on your dreams, it doesn’t matter how impossible they are.
This book totally wrecked me.
One last thing before I will attack you with my favourite quotations. I will make an ACOTAR playlist (Youtube + Spotify). This is not the end.
To the stars who listen and dreams that are answered.
You belong to all of us, and we belong to you.
Only you can decide what breaks you, Cursebreaker. Only you.
Remember that you are a wolf. And you cannot be caged.
It’s a rare person to face who they are and not run from it – not be broken by it.
One life may change the world.
Night Triumphant- and the Stars Eternal.
Why should I be scared of an oversized bat who likes to throw temper tantrums
I would have waited five hundred more years for you. A thousand years. And if this was all the time we were allowed to have… the wait was worth it.
The great joy and honour of my life has been to know you. To call you my family. And I am grateful – more than I can possibly say – that I was given this time with you all
there was not enough time in life to waste on hatred. On feeling it and putting it into the world
it is the family you make, not the one you are born into, that matters.
This is a treasure. This book is my heart and I can’t explain how much I love it. I give this book the night sky, only five stars are not enough.
Never forget the Nephelle Philosophy, my overgrown bats: What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength.
Also, it’s never too late for learning how to fly. Ask Feyre.
Title: Wintersong (Wintersong #1)
Author: S. Jae-Jones
All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favor of more practical concerns.
But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.
Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.
OKAY maybe I miss winter…or not. But I’ve seen so many pictures on bookstagram and everyone was talking about this book, so I said…Okay, I need something I can let down from my hands to focus on homework.
I hope you can hear my sarcastic tone because I.COULD.NOT.PUT.IT.DOWN. I’ve finished it in one day and I am pleaseantly surprised. I haven’t watched the Labyrinth movie with David Bowie as the Goblin King, but maybe I’ll watch it soon.
So, the book.
After I’ve read the first part of the book, I thought it was really irrelevant, but it was a preparing tool for Elisabeth’s character development. Also, it made me doubt the Goblin King. (only a little, I swear that guy has double personality)
In some parts, this book reminded me of A Court of Thorns and Roses, don’t ask me why. Just that it’s heavily magical, this really mysterious guy (okay, ACOMAF…)
Liesl is not your typical princess. She is just so vulnerable, but at the same time very strong. Magical, but real.
The reader can easily identify with these flawless characters, I just love it.
As a new author, this is one of the best debuts.
And, the books is going to be translated in my native language:
‘Some of you have been asking me about whether or not there will be foreign editions of Wintersong, to which I can say Yes! Wintersong will be published in the following territories: Hungary Czech Republic Brazil Germany Turkey Romania’
I am really excited to read the second book. Definitely a fan of this author. I cried like a baby and her writing style is really well-crafted. Very poetic.
A candle unused is nothing but wax and wick,” I said.“I would rather light the flame, knowing it will go out than sit forever in darkness.
The kiss is sweeter than sin and fiercer than temptation. I am not gentle, I am not kind; I am rough and wild and savage.
There is music in your soul. A wild and untamed sort
of music that speaks to me. It defies all the rules and laws you humans set upon it. It grows from inside you, and I have a wish to set that music free.
I am not a saint; I am a sinner. I want to sin again and
again and again.
If I were a burning smolder, he was the poker, stirring
me into flames.
