This is a book I’ve got to read in August before Queen of Shadows, because everyone recommended me to read in that order. Bless you, guys.
Title: The Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass 0.1 – 0.5)
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Synopsis: Contains all five novellas.
Celaena Sardothien is Adarlan’s most feared assassin. As part of the Assassin’s Guild, her allegiance is to her master, Arobynn Hamel, yet Celaena listens to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. In these action-packed novellas – together in one edition for the first time – Celaena embarks on five daring missions. They take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, where she fights to liberate slaves and seeks to avenge the tyrannous. But she is acting against Arobynn’s orders and could suffer an unimaginable punishment for such treachery. Will Celaena ever be truly free? Explore the dark underworld of this kick-ass heroine to find out.
Well, because I’ve read the first 3 books before this one, I already knew what was going to happen. I started reluctantly, hating that I spoiled it myself, but I have learnt to not doubt Sarah ever again.(as if ACOMAF was not enough proof)
I had my OTP, right there. Set up, the ship was ready to sail and then Sam Cortland happens… SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT if you have not read any of the Throne of Glass books- Do you know that moment when you start a book, knowing who is going to die but you still get attached?- SAM CORTLAND.
It was so painful to read the novellas expecting him to die on every page.
I really loved the fact that we get a glimpse of Celeaena in the desert- probably one of my favourite novellas ever.
Celeana Sardothien, my favourite character ever has been the queen of sass since, well, this book. She always has that humorous venomous sarcasm which reminds me of meself. It hurt me to read the ending…
Sam Cortland is important, folks. So important. I am a Rowaelin shipper, but Sam touched my soul in a different way. I have an obsession with his non-book related appearance. I have always portrayed him with freckles, ginger hair and green eyes, sorry not sorry. He is such a quiet lover. Remember the : ‘I am Celaena Sardothien and I will not be afraid’? Prepare your tissues, trust me. That is when I basically snapped a bit Why did Sam have to die?
Five daring missions. This was the first novellas book I have ever read, so, not having something to compare it with, I can say it was the best. Jk Rowling on a hill because Sarah is the queen.
If you really want to get the references from the Queen of Shadows, you better read this first.
As always, my favourite author gets 5 stars/5 for making me cry like a baby
